What is Remedial Massage?

My remedial Massage is a traditional deep tissue massage, designed to relax and detoxify the whole body. Traditional massage uses a variety of strokes - yes, I can use the famous "chopping" motion, which is correctly known as tapotement (shown above)! However, I will adapt the routine to suit your particular needs on that visit. If you are experiencing particular muscular aches and pains, I may add a few drops of a beneficial essential oil to the carrier oil to help with this.

What are the benefits of Remedial Massage?

There are a number of key benefits from a Remedial Massage, and it is a particularly good treatment for the post-Christmas period - or any other time you need to detox! This is because massage works directly to increase the efficiency of the lymphatic system, helping to flush all those toxins out of your body. It can also be used to stimulate the digestive system, which can become sluggish after all the over indulgence. It is also incredible relaxing just to remove all the tension in the body, most of which people don't even know they are carrying!

Massage can also help to:

* Boost the immune system, so decreasing the amount of colds and other illnesses

* Increase circulation, so helping natural recovery

* Lower blood pressure

* Ease aches and pains

What is involved in a Remedial Massage Treatment?

After a detailed lifestyle consultation, where we will look at the state of your health, and current issues affecting you, you will need to remove your clothes except for your pants, and lie face down on the bed. Towels are provided, and they are warmed whenever possible! I will start by carrying out the massage on the back of the body, and then turn you over to complete the front, I will pay special attention to any areas you have highlighted to me. I will finish by doing some pressure points and gentle massage on your face and hair, however if you don't want this it can be omitted. Once the massage is over, I will give you some time to come back to yourself, and provide you with some water. I will then go through some aftercare advice with you, suggesting any changes to your diet or lifestyle I think are required, and make up any products you may need.
